Creeping up slowly right up to the edge Til there’s no bets left to hedge Take a hammer to it all Why bother with a claw When you can step right up to sledge Pull the ladder up behind you, Let the bucket bottom fall. Pile the rubbish up in mountains and it’s all Buried with the dead.

Are we getting any closer to the end of this, Where the blind are being led round by these lunatics? Well you know I never had faith in all the way it sits The way they’re running round now just to get their kicks. You’d better fly on You’d better fly on Better fly on. Don’t want to wait for you to wait to let me exist Let go of your labels and your old yardsticks Open your wings and just be proud of it. You’d better fly on Fly on Fly on Better Fly On Are we getting any closer to the end of this, Where the blind are being led round by these lunatics? Well you know I never had faith in all the way it sits The way they’re running round now just to get their kicks. Don’t want to wait for you to wait to let me exist Just do what you do with your own little twist Let go of your labels and your old yardsticks Open your wings and just be proud of it.

well we keep on spinning back around to where we began can’t get a grip just sinking ever deeper in the sand ricocheting up and down but still just right where we stand Summit out of sight and stuck in purgatory land.

about

Pull The Ladder is the new EP from Bristol based electronica trio Concrete Disco, led by multi-instrumentalist and chief songwriter Jonny Wharton alongside brothers Joe (keys/laptop) and Dom Cusack (drums/samplers). Pull The Ladder EP features the singles Turbulence (June 2023), Pull the Ladder (March 2023) and Spinning (February) alongside new single What Do You Dream Of?. Concrete Disco are supporting electronic legends The Orb on a UK tour in Autumn 2023.

When asked about the underlying theme behind the Pull The Ladder EP, Jonny explains "I have a deep feeling of frustration with the seeming inability of our public institutions to deal with the greatest challenges of our times, but of course we all have our parts to play as individuals too. This sentiment is tempered by an underlying optimism that we still have the power to right our course". This cathartic striving for personal salvation in the face of the big threats of the modern world are delivered in immaculate electronica vignettes with Jonny's slick production and soaring harmonies bringing a beauty to the spiritual cacophony. Punchy electro-pop for the end times that marries the dense, claustrophobic atmospheres of latter day Radiohead with the harder edged euphoria of acts such as Overmono, Moderat and the Chemical Brothers.

As a formidable live act Concrete Disco have built up a dedicated following in taking their high-octane show to Glastonbury Festival, Secret Garden Party, The Borderline and The Roundhouse, supporting Deadmau5, Modestep, Plump DJs, Beardyman and others along the way. They've had radio support from cult slots such as Soho Radio, Shoreditch Radio and Eddie Temple-Morris on XFM. With this exciting new chapter opening for them, Concrete Disco continue to tread new ground.
